Measuring Points, Control and Service – All from a Single Source

For irrigation, we ensure that our solutions are implemented smoothly and effectively – with expertise, many years of experience and active support in operation, so that efficiency, precision and reliability are guaranteed at all times.

Do you require expert advice on the design of your measuring point or on selecting the appropriate measuring technology?

Our team of experts will provide you with qualified support in analyzing your requirements and selecting the optimal solution for your application. Our consulting services include the professional design of the measuring point, the selection of suitable communication technology, and the implementation of data-driven software solutions for operational optimization and increased efficiency of work processes. Furthermore, we are happy to offer you comprehensive advice on all aspects of operating your systems.

Our service technicians and ICT specialists professionally implement and commission your system solutions for water, gas, electricity and heat. We also provide professional on-site support to water, gas, and district heating suppliers during their annual meter replacements.

We provide comprehensive support for your smart meter rollout, from initial concept to successful implementation. During the consultation phase, we present suitable technologies and solutions. Together, we define the relevant use cases for your metering infrastructure in the implementation specification. Our engineering team and experienced service technicians then conduct pilot projects and establish a proof of concept. During the rollout, our project managers ensure a smooth and timely implementation. Following successful acceptance testing, we seamlessly hand over the metering infrastructure to the operational team.

Our digital ecosystem INFINIO® offers customized software solutions that enable efficient use of your data. We also support you in using these solutions securely and in compliance with data protection regulations.

Do you have a question about measurement technology? Or a challenge at a measuring point? We are here for you and look forward to hearing from you.

Our specialists in measurement technology, data communication, and water and energy network operation are happy to discuss your technical needs with you. An initial consultation is free and without obligation – If we can be of any assistance, we have numerous support options available.

We overhaul, calibrate, and verify meters for water, gas, and heat using our expert personnel and test benches. A comprehensive fleet of loaner meters is available during the overhaul, and we can handle the entire exchange process upon request.

With the GWF Academy, you can expand your expertise through free webinars and a wide range of further training opportunities. Upon request, we also develop customized training courses and workshops that are precisely tailored to your needs.

Installing a flume or weir in an existing canal requires civil works, creates head losses that affect upstream water levels, and can trap sediment that degrades measurement accuracy over time. Ultrasonic transit-time systems with transducers mounted across the channel measure velocity and water level continuously without modifying the canal structure or interrupting water delivery. To serve this purpose GWF developed KANALIS, a multi-path ultrasonic system for open channels from 1 to 100 metres wide that complies with ISO 6416 and requires no on-site calibration after commissioning, and ARVUS for closed pipe and partially filled pipe applications at canal outtakes.

Water losses in irrigation networks – through leakage, seepage, over-delivery, and unauthorized withdrawals – are difficult to quantify without measurement at multiple points because the discrepancy between what enters and what is delivered can be substantial and distributed across hundreds of kilometres of canal. Installing flow meters at the intake, at distribution nodes, and at farm turnouts creates a network water balance that reveals where losses occur and their magnitude. To serve this purpose GWF provides KANALIS for open channel measurement across the network and ARVUS for automated measurement at individual farm turnouts.

In many irrigation districts, farmers are billed based on land area or crop type rather than the water they actually receive, which leads to disputes and inefficiency. Automated flow measurement at each farm turnout provides a tamper-evident, continuous record of delivered volume that supports transparent billing and gives farmers confidence in the data. To serve this purpose GWF developed ARVUS, an integrated flow measurement and gate control system designed for farm turnout applications, operating bidirectionally without causing obstruction or head loss.

Without real-time flow data at multiple points in the network, irrigation operators rely on scheduled deliveries and manual valve adjustments. This leads to some users receiving too much water while others receive too little – water is wasted and conflicts arise. Integrating continuous flow measurement with automated valve control and a central data platform enables operators to balance supply and demand in real time and systematically identify inefficiencies. To this end, GWF offers integrated irrigation water management solutions that combine channel flow measurement, automated valves, and SCADA connectivity – from individual field deliveries to district-wide network management.
