Efficient and sustainable energy supply depends not only on high-performing plant infrastructure, but also on transparent operating data. In power generation facilities, contaminated media, changing temperatures, open channels and existing pipe structures can make precise wastewater flow measurement particularly challenging.
At Veolia Energia Łódź, these were exactly the conditions that had to be addressed. The combined heat and power plant is a key element of the city’s energy infrastructure, supplying district heating and electricity to a large part of the region. For precise billing of water and sewage services, identification of cost sources and fulfilment of legal requirements, a reliable measurement solution was required that could be installed without interfering with existing infrastructure and without interrupting plant operations.
The Reference Case demonstrates how GWF implemented a robust, non-contact and digitally connected wastewater flow measurement solution using Q-Eye Radar, INFINIO® STREAM and independent verification with SONICO® EDGE. The focus is on safe installation on a DN300 pipeline, continuous real-time data transmission to an external monitoring system and the ability to detect previously unidentified discharges, enabling targeted corrective actions and full operational control.
