A safe and reliable drinking water supply depends not only on robust infrastructure, but also on precise flow measurement data. In large reservoirs and distribution networks, strongly fluctuating consumption levels, very low flow rates and occasional reverse flows can make accurate flow measurement particularly challenging.
At the Glaubten Reservoir operated by Zurich Water Supply, these were exactly the conditions that had to be addressed. To support the operation of a drinking water system serving more than 900,000 cstomers, a flow measurement solution was required that could deliver reliable data even under complex hydraulic conditions.
The Reference Case demonstrates how GWF has implemented a flexible, system-integrated solution for precise flow measurement based on the DUCTUS platform. The focus is on the specific requirements for flow measurement in reservoir applications, where large pipe diameters and short inlet conditions are often present, as well as the need for precise and reliable real-time data to maximize operational safety and reliability of the water supply.
