GWF, Johannesburg Water, and Microsoft met last week for an intensive exchange on shared goals in water supply. The focus was on strategic approaches to strengthen the city's water security and to effectively utilize technological innovations.
Johannesburg Water presented various programs aimed at reducing water losses and promoting efficient resource use. In addition, Microsoft shared insights into its commitment to South Africa – including investments in local water responsibility, improved internet access, and its global goal of becoming water-positive by 2030.
The GWFBalance program was particularly highlighted, as it uses data and AI to help visualize and sustainably reduce water losses in the network. The discussions demonstrated how digital technologies can support communities increasingly facing water security challenges.
The partnership between GWF, Johannesburg Water, and Microsoft remains crucial for future projects. Together, we are committed to supporting Johannesburg and South Africa with innovative solutions in water metering and water reduction.
