Remote Pressure Control for Water Suppliers

  • October 27, 2026

Reference Cases from Around the World – How Solutions from GWF i2O Help Water Utilities on Five Continents Reduce Water Loss, Pipe Bursts and Energy Consumption for the Long Term.

A reliable water supply depends not only on robust infrastructure, but also on how precisely network pressure is controlled. When pressure is too high or fluctuates heavily, leaks and pipe bursts increase, energy demand rises and the service life of the pipes is shortened.

Water utilities around the world, including in the UK, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Australia, USA and South Africa faced exactly these challenges. Water providers ranging from Byron Shire Council, serving around 35,000 residents, to Sabesp, with 26.7 million customers, all use i2O technology. Droughts, aging networks, water losses of up to 95 percent in some areas and manually managed rationing called for a solution that controls pressure automatically and remotely, without affecting the service customers receive.

This collection of case studies shows how i2O’s advanced pressure management solutions have delivered measurable results, including up to 67 percent fewer pipe bursts, up to 47 percent less leakage and 49 percent energy savings in pump operations. In one project, the solution was rolled out across 200 District Metered Areas in just ten months, and bursts are now detected before customers report them.
