In the municipality of Adligenswil, with around 6,000 residents and an annual water consumption of approximately 500 million liters, these were exactly the conditions that had to be addressed. To meet defined sustainability goals, a modern, future-ready metering platform was required that increases measurement accuracy, reduces operating costs and provides consumers with greater transparency. Key requirements included automated data collection without interrupting operations, seamless integration with existing network management systems and the ability to manage over 1,000 meters simultaneously across the network.
The Reference Case demonstrates how GWF implemented a precise, digitally connected end-to-end solution combining the SONICO® NANO ultrasonic water meter, LoRaWAN gateways and the INFINIO® platform. The focus is on the rapid installation of over 1,000 meters, half of which were operational within just two weeks, automated remote meter reading without on-site visits, and additional operational insights such as backflow detection, water temperature and leak alerts, enabling informed decisions and efficient network operation.
