The Lucerne-based family business GWF AG is acquiring GMT GmbH, a company specializing in gas control devices and gas measurement technology, headquartered in Gross-Gerau, Germany. With this acquisition, GWF expands its range of solutions in the field of measurement and control technology for the gas industry.
GMT boasts over four decades of experience in the development and manufacturing of gas pressure regulators and diaphragm gas meters. The company has its own technologies and production facilities in Gross-Gerau and employs around 50 people. Integration into the GWFGroup, founded in 1899, opens up new perspectives for GMT's further development – organizationally, in terms of market orientation, and technologically. The goal is to strategically strengthen the company and position it for the future, enabling it to optimally leverage the opportunities in the evolving gas industry.
GMT will continue to operate as an independent company with its own brand, organization, and current location. At the same time, insights from the GWForganization will be leveraged for strategic and entrepreneurial development. "The acquisition of GMT is another important step in implementing our growth strategy," says Florian Strasser, CEO of GWF AG. "We see GMT as an established company with great potential. Together with the workforce, we want to further develop the company and create new opportunities."
GWF places great importance on a respectful and transparent integration process. Together with GMT's management and employees, the next development steps will be carefully planned with a long-term perspective. The goal is always to ensure quality and customer proximity while simultaneously developing new market opportunities.
The acquisition of GMT is GWF 's second acquisition in 2025, following the purchase of Unimon GmbH, a company specializing in water quality analysis, in January. With this move, GWF is consistently pursuing its strategic growth agenda and positioning itself as a comprehensive solutions provider for the energy and water sectors.
“Our goal is to lead our GWF Group into a successful future and to make a significant contribution to the responsible use of energy and water,” Strasser continued. “We combine innovative strength with long-term thinking – thereby creating added value for our customers, partners and employees.”
